Rebecca Gaskin Gain - Career in Global Finance and Project Advisory
An accomplished international financier with deep expertise in banking, foreign direct investment, and project financing in developing countries, Rebecca Gaskin Gain trained as a lawyer at Emory University School of Law. Rebecca Gain serves as an independent non-executive director of CBZ Holdings in Zimbabwe.
Rebecca Gaskin Gain moved early into corporate finance and investment, developing a career that has seen her work for and advise governments, multilateral agencies, leading global banks, and private investment organizations. Early in her finance career, she advised governments on privatization and foreign investment. She advised countries including Russia, the Czech Republic, and Uganda.
In 2000, Rebecca Gain joined the banking industry as managing director of Standard Bank Congo, a member of the Standard Bank Group. She grew deposits by over 1000%, recovered half of non-performing loans, and improved government relations, leading to her promotion as director of Standard Bank Group (Africa Division) in 2003.
Following her years in banking, Rebecca Gain leveraged her experience as a corporate advisor, conducting business development and due diligence activities for investors in natural resources, infrastructure, and finance. Focused on Africa, she has advised investors on projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, and Djibouti.
She is fluent in English and French and has working familiarity with Italian, Czech, and Arabic. In addition to her legal training, she has a BA in history from Wake Forest University and undertook advanced studies in finance at the Insead/Amsterdam Institute of Finance.
